Burlington OPP officer faces sex assault charges for 2019 incident in Aurora

Ontario's police watchdog has laid a sexual assault charge on a Burlington OPP officer after an incident in Aurora, Ont. north of Toronto.

The Special Investigations Unit says it received a complaint about Const. Robert Horton, who works in the Niagara satellite detachment.

The complaint alleged Horton sexually assaulted a woman on Aug. 9, 2019.

Const. Horton will appear in court for one count of sexual assault on Feb. 26.

The SIU is an arm's length agency of Ontario's Ministry of the Attorney General which investigates incidents involving the police that have resulted in death, serious injury, or reports of sexual assault.
