A 27-year-old Brantford woman was arrested after police say she assaulted the owner of a service animal.

Officers from Ontario Provincial Police's Brant detachment arrived on Oakland Road in Brant at roughly 2 a.m. on Tuesday.

Police say two people were taking a service dog for a walk. The 27-year-old Brantford woman was approaching them with a dog of her own, which was not on a leash.

Her dog attacked the service dog. As both sets of dog owners tried to pull their pets off each other, the woman allegedly assaulted the other two people.

She is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
