The discovery of what appears to be a human skull is being investigated by the major crimes unit of the Brantford Police Service and the Office of the Chief Coroner.

Police say someone found the suspected human remains on Saturday. The skull was found in a remote area of a field located in an industrial area in the north end of Brantford, police said in a media release.

A postmortem coroner's examination will be scheduled and until the exam has been completed, the service says it's unable to provide further information regarding the identity of the remains.

"As the investigation is in the very early stages, additional information will be released as it becomes available," the release says.
