1 person dead after Brantford house fire, police say

One person is dead following a Brantford house fire on Saturday, Brantford police say.

The Ontario Fire Marshal's office is investigating. 

On Jan. 16 around 11:15 a.m., Brantford police attended an "assist fire" call at a residence on White Owl Crescent, a media release states. 

Police say that the Brantford Fire Department found and extricated a female from the residence. A short time later, they said, she succumbed to her injuries and died.

The Brantford Police Service major crime unit is investigating, along with the Ontario Fire Marshal's office and Brantford Fire Prevention. As of Saturday, police were holding the scene for further investigation.
