A 12-year-old boy in Norfolk County south of Brantford called 911, police say, to complain that his parents asked him to help with the dishes.

They say the boy dialled the emergency line Thursday night after his parents asked him to get off the internet and help wash some dishes.

When police arrived at the home, they said in a press release, the boy asked them to find him a new family.

Police say it takes at least two officers roughly half an hour to respond to these calls, which takes resources away from real emergencies.
