Two men have been arrested following a "targeted" stabbing incident in Fort Erie, Niagara Regional Police Service says.

Around 10 p.m. on Thursday, Niagara police and Niagara EMS responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence in the area of Highland Avenue and Central Avenue.

Emergency crews located a 52-year-old man with stab wounds. He was transported to an out-of-town hospital where he received treatment and is in stable condition.

Police say the subsequent investigation led to the arrest of two Fort Erie men — aged 36 and 43 — a short time later.

Both men were charged with aggravated assault, while the 43-year-old faced an additional charge of fail to comply with probation order.

Police say the accused men will be held in custody pending the outcome of a video bail hearing, which is scheduled to take place at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on Friday.

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact detectives at 905-688-4111, extension 1022300.
