Halladay wins American League Cy Young
Roy Halladay, ace of the Toronto Blue Jays pitching staff, won the American League Cy Young Award Tuesday.
The best pitcher in each of baseball's two major leagues gets the award.
The Baseball Writers Association of America members vote for the award before the post-season begins. Halladay received 26 of 28 first-place votes.
Halladay, 26, won 22 games for the Blue Jays, best in the American League.
He is the third Blue Jays pitcher to win a Cy Young, after Pat Hentgen in 1996 and Roger Clemens in 1997 and 1998.
The National League Cy Young award will be announced on Thursday.
