The new playground at Westboro Elementary School in Sherwood Park officially opened Thursday, giving kids with limited mobility the chance to play.

It took the Westboro Parent Group nearly two years of fundraising in which they raised nearly $300,000 to make the park happen. The playground was built with the needs and abilities of all children in mind.

There are three special needs classes at the school and the teachers are delighted.

"Students in wheelchairs have specialized swings, that their caregiver can sit beside them." said Andrea Perrotta, a teacher at Westboro Elementary.

"I can't emphasize what a great park this is."
