Road construction worker killed in St. Albert
A 25-year-old construction crew worker was killed Wednesday in St. Albert after he was struck by another worker’s pickup truck.
RCMP say the incident happened around 4 p.m. near Hebert Drive and Akins Drive where a road resurfacing crew was working on intersection improvements.
Police say some crew members were moving equipment and vehicles to different locations on the work site when the man was hit.
Emergency first aid was administered until EMS arrived to take the man to hospital where he was pronounced dead just before 5 p.m.
An RCMP collision re-constructionist has visited the scene and the RCMP investigation is ongoing. So far, they have ruled out road, weather, speed and alcohol as factors in the collision.
Occupational Health and Safety will also be conducting their own investigation.
