Renovations complete on Marshall McLuhan House
The childhood home of Marshall McLuhan, the famous philosopher of media theory, is now open in Edmonton's Highlands neighbourhood.
The modest home was originally built by the McLuhan family more than 100 years ago.
For the past two-and-a-half years, the home has gone through renovations to build historical upgrades and be up to building code.
The house has a display of historical photographs documenting the McLuhan family's time in Edmonton. There are also displays showcasing Marshall McLuhan's work and involvement with communications theory.
In this video produced by Sam Martin, we get an inside look of this historical house and a background on why Marshall McLuhan's legacy deserves such recognition.
Arts Habitat, the organization involved in restoring the home, is now offering and accepting applications for a artist in residence program. It includes a garage studio space on the property for the successful applicant
The public is welcome to visit the house every first Monday of the month from 2 to 6 p.m.
