There are reports that former Alberta Premier Ralph Klein will be awarded the Order of Canada.
A column in the Calgary Herald says that Klein will get the prestigious award after being passed over numerous times since leaving office in 2006.
He now suffers from a severe form of dementia and would not likely to be able to accept Canada's highest honour in person.
As premier, Klein used budget austerity measures coupled with rising oil and gas revenues to take the province out of debt.
In 2010, he received the Alberta Order of Excellence.
