Oil workers pick up $25 million lottery cheque
Fifteen oilworkers from Edson said that they'll return to their jobs despite winning $25 million in the Lotto Max draw on Nov. 2.
The CanElson Drilling employees collected their giant cheque on Friday at the Western Canada Lottery Corporation office in St. Albert. The win works out to about $1.6 million per person.
Rig manager Keith Gould told reporters that they all plan to be back on the job in the new year.
"I think we discussed already that it would be nice for everybody to go back to work roughly the same time and stay together as a group," he said. "We got a real good group of guys here and it seems to work."
The winning ticket was purchased at the Shoppers Drug Mart on 53rd Street in Edson. The workers also plan to keep on buying lottery tickets.
