Man dies in Hobbema stabbing, youth held
Police said they have taken a 16-year-old youth into custody in relation to a homicide on the Louis Bull Reserve, in Hobbema, Alta. Tuesday night.
Police were called to investigate a complaint about a stabbing at a home on the reserve about 100 kilometres south of Edmonton at about 9:20 p.m.
Joseph Daniel Moonias, 28, was treated for a knife wound, but died from his injuries.
The 16-year-old youth is now in custody in Westaskiwin. Police said charges are pending in the case.
Louis Bull is one of four First Nations communities in Hobbema, an area that has been plagued by violence this year.
In August, a woman, 20, was killed in her own home when someone shot at her house.
And a toddler was seriously wounded in April when a stray bullet from a drive-by shooting struck her inside her house.
