A man beaten with baseball bats by four or five assailants last weekend in northwest Edmonton has died. 

The man, believed to be in his 30s, died Saturday afternoon in hospital, police say.

An autopsy is scheduled for today, but police have declared the death as the city's 15th homicide of the year.

Police are still seeking witnesses to the attack, which happened last Thursday at around 10 p.m. near 137th Street and 115th Avenue.

The suspects, wearing dark clothes and hoods, got out of a vehicle and struck the victim several times with bats before driving off.
