Landmark Edmonton store closes
A family-run business known for high-fashion women's clothing has closed its doors in downtown Edmonton after more than four decades.
"They … survived because they were a quality business and so well run and so well regarded, I think, in Edmonton. So as I say, I am very sad to hear that they seem to be gone."
The store, most recently at 10507 109 St., closed down last weekend. It was originally called Mr. Donovan and occupied a store on Jasper Avenue from 1961-1977. No reasons were given for the closure.
"They are unique and they are so far and few in between that particularly the women of Edmonton are going sorely miss that opportunity," said Peter Mercer, executive director of the North Edge Business Association.
