Fire rips through west Edmonton restaurant
The fire started in the Tumbleweed's Texas and Latin Grill, at 152nd Street and 111th Avenue
No one was injured after a fire broke out in a strip mall in west Edmonton on Sunday morning.
The fire started in the Tumbleweed's Texas and Latin Grill, at 152nd Street and 111th Avenue at around 7:30 a.m.
A bystander called 911 when they noticed black smoke coming from the building, Edmonton Fire Rescue spokeswoman Sarah Meffen said.
The fire was declared under control at around 9:15 a.m. and was declared out at around 2:30 p.m. There were no occupants in the restaurant and no one was injured.
"We are not sure how many structures or businesses were affected," Meffen said. "There will be an investigation."
The roof of the strip mall was damaged and smoke still lingered in the air near the strip mall Sunday afternoon.
Three fire trucks remained on scene, as well as a police vehicle.
The front windows of the restaurant were rippled or broken from the heat of the fire.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
