Two dead after house fire in Plamondon, Alta.
Police believe victims are a child and a man
Two people are dead after a fire destroyed a home in Plamondon, Alta., early Saturday, police said.
The victims are believed to be a man and a child, police said.
Lac La Biche RCMP responded to a house fire around 12:45 a.m. in the hamlet about 200 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
A woman was airlifted to hospital, Lac La Biche RCMP said in a news release Saturday. The man and the child were found in the house.
Lac La Biche and Plamondon fire departments also responded, but the flames destroyed the house.
Omer Moghrabi, mayor of Lac La Biche County, visited the scene Saturday as the Office of the Fire Commissioner and RCMP investigated.
"The house is just burnt right down to the ground and there's damage to the adjacent homes on either side," Moghrabi said.
He said the community of about 350 people is tightly knit.
"Everybody knows everybody. In these times, it's definitely a tragedy and our prayers and best wishes are with the people involved," he said.
