Edmonton officer charged, resigns
An Edmonton police officer with 13 years experience faces theft and fraud charges.
Const. Riccardo Zenari, 39, was charged on Mar. 18 and charged with two counts of theft over $5000 and two counts of fraud over $5000.
The charges stem from events police believe took place between January 2008 and February 2011.
An investigation began in February, following a standard audit review for the year 2010 when police discovered what they believe to be discrepancies in the records of an employee.
Zenari was suspended without pay Mar. 9. The patrol officer resigned Mar. 16. He was charged two days later.
Zenari will appear in court April 29.
