Weekend passes for the Edmonton Folk Festival sold out in record time Wednesday — in less than two hours.

Tickets for the Sunday night show, headlined by k.d. lang, also sold out quickly.

"We are extremely grateful for the tremendous support of our patrons," festival producer Terry Wickham said.

"The demand was so great that it crashed our phone lines for 90 minutes. There was also overwhelming demand for our online tickets.

"We directed patrons to go through Ticketmaster when they opened at 10 a.m.," he said. "This resulted in Ticketmaster’s allotment also selling out quickly."

"We apologize to patrons who were unable to get through either on our phone lines or our website."

There are still evening tickets available for the main stage shows on Aug. 4-7 at Gallagher Park, but they are also selling very quickly, Wickham said.
