Join Nancy Carlson weekdays at 6 p.m. on CBC TV for the people, places and stories that matter to you.

We caught up with Nancy to learn more about her career and her life.

How did you get into journalism?

I've always been into writing, and I was volunteering at a local television station when I was going to university. When it came time to focus on a career, I initially got into journalism to work at a newspaper or magazine but broadcasting came naturally to me.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

In my spare time I love to run! Staying active and taking care of my mental health is very important to me. I also like to bake, spend time with my family, and I have a cat named Oliver and a dog named Rooster who keep me entertained.

Where is your favourite place to travel?

My fiance and I really enjoy the outdoors so we like to travel to places where he can fish, I can run, and then we can explore together. Our most recent trip was to Kona, Hawaii where we had a great time!

What do you love about Edmonton?

I love how Edmonton is always redefining itself. From major construction projects to new small businesses, the city is always changing. The people who live here also aren't afraid to take risks.

What's on your playlist?

I have a playlist that I titled "Fast & Feeling Great". I originally created it to motivate me during a run but I now listen to it whenever I need a pick-me-up. It has everything from Avicii to Fleetwood Mac and Dolly Parton.

If you're ever looking for music suggestions just connect with me on social media or drop me an email and I'll share some of my current favourites!
