Dan Johnstone, also known as Can-Man Dan, said he collected about 20,000 pounds of food and several thousand dollars in donations during his annual food bank camp out.

Johnstone spent four days camping out in the back of his van near the Southgate Centre Safeway raising money and awareness for the Edmonton Food Bank.

"Edmontonians, as always, have been very, very generous," he said. "A lot of donations have come in at all hours of the night. We're going to help feed a lot of people in need, so I'm very excited."

Johnstone said the response to his campaign grows bigger each year.
