75 homes evacuated in northern Alberta hamlet after gas leak
Ruptured gas line forced Fort McKay residents out of community
A ruptured gas line that forced residents from 75 homes in Fort McKay, a community north of Fort McMurray, Thursday, has been repaired.
Residents were allowed back into their homes before 4 p.m.
An ATCO spokesperson said the line was ruptured by a third party near the new Riverside care facility.
The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo says its emergency crews responded to the rupture and temporarily blocked access into the community as a precaution.
