Clark calls Canadian Alliance "manipulative"
The federal leader of the Progressive Conservative party spoke to a group of supporters in Saskatoon today. Joe Clark is on a Canada-wide tour, trying to garner support for the Tories.
Clark attacked the Canadian Alliance Party several times during his noon-hour speech. And he found something other than the party's name to criticize.
This time, he attacked the rival's integrity. An Ontario Cabinet Minister announced today he would not seek the leadership of the new party because his campaign funding had conditions attached. "It's been the view of a lot of people who first flocked to the Reform Party in Saskatchewan, believing it was a genuinely populist movement," Clark says.
"But it's my view for some time, that they're a very manipulative party, very much controlled from the top down."
Clark also emphasized the lack of support the Canadian Alliance party has east of Manitoba.
