CBC's David McLauchlin dies at 56
CBC Radio reporter David McLauchlin has died of brain cancer at the age of 56.

The CBC's national reporter in Montreal was known for his compassionate features from across Canada and around the world.
In 1996, McLauchlin was the only journalist to participate in a healing ceremony that ended the long feud between the Dene and Inuit of the Northwest Territories.
Last year, he won a Canadian Association of Journalists award from his report on the high rates of brain cancer in firefighters.

He also travelled to Afghanistan to tell the stories behind the headlines for two CBC Radio specials.
