Iono Campagnolo appointed British Columbia's new Lieutenan Governor

Iona Campagnolo, a former federal Liberal cabinet minister, is British Columbia's new Lieutenant-Governor.

Campagnola, 68, served as the Liberal member of Parliament from Skeena, B.C., from 1974 until 1979. She served as federal minister of sports when Pierre Trudeau was prime minister.

She replaces Garde Gardom as Lieutenant-Governor.

Campagnolo is a director of the International Centre for Human Rights and Development.
