Calgary Highland Games
"Wha's Like Us" asked Scottish poet Robert Burns. The Calgary Highland Games can help answer that question. Organizers are inviting Scots and non-Scots to come out and enjoy the 100th anniversary of the games on Saturday.
Aug. 31, starting at 7:30 a.m., Springbank Park
Calgary's Pride Week wraps with the Pride Parade on Sunday led by grand marshal Premier Alison Redford. The parade promises to be a colourful show and will end with a street festival at Shaw Millennium Park.
CBC Calgary is participating in this colourful and lively event by marching in the parade. Lots of CBC personalities will be there for you to meet, including David Gray, Doug Dirks and Angela Knight.
Sunday starting at noon on Stephen Avenue
Calgary's modern-rock festival X-Fest has expanded into a two-day outdoor musical event. Some of this year's featured performers include Blink-182, City and Colour and Yukon Blonde.
Saturday and Sunday, Fort Calgary
BBQ on the Bow
Canada's first barbecue competition celebrates its 21st season in Calgary. The free event features teams competing for BBQ Grand Champion by earning points in the chicken, pork ribs, pork shoulder and beef brisket categories.
