A woman is facing charges in connection to a collision that killed a Calgary author earlier this year.

Cookbook writer Wendy Turnbull was struck by a car while trying to cross 90th Avenue S.W.

A woman is facing charges in connection to a collision that killed a Calgary author earlier this year.

Wendy Turnbull, 65, died after she was struck by a car in a crosswalk at 90th Avenue and 19th Street S.W.

Turnbull was a cookbook author and grandmother. Her first book, Gems of Gluten-Free Baking, was a Canadian bestseller.

The driver of a Hyundai was detained at the scene but later released.

The 29-year-old woman has now been charged with driving without due care, speeding and failure to yield to a pedestrian.
