Despite the wet weather, thousands of people came out to Calgary's Heritage Park Saturday to stock up on cheap but healthy produce.

The 36th annual Harvest Sale, run by the Calgary Produce Marketing Association, is taking place 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. MT, Saturday and Sunday.

All proceeds go to three local charities — the Alberta Children's Foundation, the Calgary community kitchen program and the Heritage Park Society.

Organizer Stewart LaPage said it offers the opportunity to stock up on produce at rock-bottom prices.

"Everything you'd find at your local grocery store but at prices that we like to say are old-fashioned," he said.

"We have a great mix of product that's been donated from vendors from all over North America."

The Harvest Sale runs all weekend at Heritage Park Historical Village, 1900 Heritage Drive S.W.

Regular park admission rates apply.  Harvest sale purchases are cash only.
