Prescribed fire set to burn in Kananaskis

A prescribed fire in Alberta's Kananaskis country starts Tuesday, aimed at preventing wildfires and restoring vegetation.

A prescribed fire in Alberta's Kananaskis country starts Tuesday, aimed at preventing wildfires and restoring vegetation.

Alberta Parks plans to burn a 408-hectare area, known for a trail called Evan-Thomas, just southeast of Kananaskis Village on Highway 40 .

Portions of the Elbow-Sheep Wildland Provincial Park will be closed for several days.

Smoke will be visible around the area and drivers on Highway 40 are being told to use caution and expect delays.
