Calgary police are looking for suspects after a smoke grenade was thrown through the window of a northwest home Saturday afternoon.

The incident took place around 1 p.m. MT in the 100 block of Bernard Court, just south of Beddington Trail N.W. The device released smoke and started a small fire in the living room.

"We cordoned off the area by 200 metres, evacuating people from their homes until the area was rendered safe," said Guy Baker, acting duty inspector with the Calgary Police Service. "They're now returned back to their place and Arson is continuing with its investigation."

People in the home ran outside and called police and the fire department.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call them.
