Pancake breakfast kicks off Stampede season
Event features Punjabi and break-dancing performances
The first of two pancake breakfasts this month leading up to the Calgary Stampede took place Saturday in Falconridge.
Calgarians looking to get into the Stampede spirit stopped by the Genesis Wellness Centre in the city's northeast for pancakes and some diverse entertainment options.
The breakfast featured First Nations' dancers, Punjabi and break-dancing performances and the traditional rodeo and chuckwagon displays.
Saxophonist Shubumjeet Singh Rakhra and the Marakame Mexican Dance and Arts Association were also in attendence.
The next pancake breakfast will take place Saturday, June 15 at the Westside Recreation Centre from 9 a.m. to noon.
2013 marks the 101st Calgary Stampede.
The 10-day western event takes place July 5 to 14 at the Calgary Stampede grounds.
