Some of the youngest flood victims are getting a little help going back to school.

A grade 5 student in Okotoks, Anna Quick, is collecting school supplies for students in High River. The 10-year-old has a room filled with donated items and she is looking for more.

"They're having trouble getting back to school so I thought why not make backpacks?" she said.

There is also a personal reason for Anna wanting to help. The father of one of her classmates died in the June flood.

Anna's mother Shannon is impressed by the generosity of the local business owners who have made donations.

"I'm absolutely amazed, it's just beautiful to see all these people coming together"

So far, Anna has collected about 100 backpacks along with pens, crayons and snacks. They will be distributed to families in High River before the start of the school year.
