Calgary fire crews tackle multiple fires caused by fireworks
Fireworks aren't allowed without a permit, CFD says
Fire crews in Calgary responded to multiple grass and brush fires around the city Thursday, with many caused by fireworks.
The Calgary Fire Department said in a news release that the majority of the fires appeared to be caused by careless use of fireworks in close proximity to public spaces and property.
A Twitter user posted a video of a fire they said was happening at Elliston Park in southeast Calgary Thursday, though CFD did not confirm that the park was the site of a fire caused by a firework.

"The Calgary Fire Department would like to remind citizens that fireworks and pyrotechnics must not be ignited or fired in Calgary except by a trained and certified professional with a fireworks permit," CFD said in a news release. "This includes consumer fireworks that have been purchased or ordered outside Calgary."
