Multi-vehicle Glenmore Trail crash leaves 1 dead, 4 in hospital
'It's been a terrible weekend for families,' says EMS of fatal collisions
A grisly motor vehicle crash in southwest Calgary has left one man dead, sent four to hospital and shut down all lanes in a section of Glenmore Trail Sunday afternoon, police and paramedics confirm to CBC News.
Police say the crash involved a man — believed to be impaired — who has been taken to the CPS District 2 detachment for breathalyzer testing.
First responders were called to Glenmore Trail west of Crowchild Trail at about 4:39 p.m. to a collision that involved at least three vehicles.
One man, believed to be in his 60s, died at the scene.
Four adults have been taken to area hospitals.
A man in his 20s and a woman in her 60s were taken to Foothills Hospital in serious condition.
A man and a woman, each in their 40s, were transported to Rockyview General Hospital in stable, non-life-threatening condition.
Lanes in both directions of Glenmore Trail between 37th Street S.W. and Crowchild Trail are closed while police investigate and it's expected to take several hours.

A 19-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman died when an SUV and car collided near Langdon early Saturday morning.
EMS spokesperson Stuart Brideaux said "It's been a terrible weekend for families."
