Man accused of murder now facing sex-related charges
Guevera Wilson Clorina already charged in stabbing deaths of Calgary mother and son
The man accused of killing a Calgary mother and her five-year-old son in the northwest community of Evanston in May is facing more charges today.
Guevera Wilson Clorina, 26, was charged with sexual interference and sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl over a three-year period.
"During the course of the homicide investigation this information came to light," said police spokesperson Kevin Brookwell.
"Our investigators have launched a separate investigation that will run in parallel to the homicide investigation. We don't know what relevance at all this will have to the homicide investigation."
There is a ban on naming the teen, but CBC News has learned from police sources familiar with the case that the teen involved is pregnant.
More charges possible
"There is some equipment that has been seized and there could potentially be some additional charges that are coming as a result of that," said Brookwell.
Clorina had already been charged with two counts of second-degree murder.
He was arrested last month after the discovery of the bodies of Chona Manzano and her son Gabrial.
Clorina is the cousin of Manzano's husband.
An autopsy confirmed they had been stabbed to death.
Court documents show Manzano may have learned about the inappropriate sexual relationship before her death.
The matter is back in court next week.
