Kevin Rublitz seeks release pending 2nd-degree murder trial
Bail hearing will take place on Sept. 11

A Calgary man accused of killing the mother of his child will try to get out on bail while he waits for trial.

Kevin Rublitz, 30, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 24-year-old Jessica Newman.
On Friday prosecutors and Riblitz's lawyer decided a bail hearing will take place on Sept. 11, 2015.
"I think there's a decent chance [he'll be released]," said defence lawyer Brendan Miller.
They also set a date in June, 2016 for a preliminary inquiry.
This case started out as a missing persons investigation. Newman was last seen on March 10 in the southeast community of Forest Lawn community.
A work crew discovered her body in a ditch in a rural area north of the city on May 4.
Newman and Rubletz had a child together and had been in conflict over custody.
