A fantastic fox, dance, audio and Ice Cube: what's on in Calgary this weekend
Weekend features goats, animated foxes, contemporary dance and an L.A. rap legend

It's the weekend between Stampede ending and the Folk Festival starting — you might think it would be a quiet July weekend in Calgary, but Homestretch producer Tracy Fuller begs to differ. There's plenty going on if you know where to look. Here's just a few things going on this weekend in Calgary.
Fiestaval
Who doesn't love Latino music and the beautiful cultures and customs of South and Central America that it celebrates? That's what will be happening all weekend at Olympic Plaza downtown, where there is not only free admission to everything, but free dance lessons, including salsa, merengue and bachata. Fiestaval favourite DJ Chico will be spinning tunes Friday and Saturday night, and Sunday, among the acts performing are Puerto Rican reggaeton duo Angel and Khriz.
Goat yoga
Goat yoga is growing in popularity, and this Sunday at the Granary, the goats will be there grazing alongside the stretching masses at an outdoor goat yoga class. It's 20 bucks per person and you have to bring your own mat, but the goats bring a bit of joy and humour to help loosen your tight hamstrings. Go to granaryroad.com for more information

India Film Festival
Th India Film Festival of Alberta arrives at the Globe Cinema Friday night, with a gala screening of Village Rockstars. It's a beautiful film about a 10-year-old girl named Dhunu, living in a remote village in India who dreams of one day owning a guitar and starting a band. There are seven other films screening Saturday and Sunday. For more info, check out indiafilmfestival.ca/calgary.
The Fantastic Mr. Fox
Before the wonderful and witty Wes Anderson created the Isle of Dogs, which is in theatres now, he created The Fantastic Mr. Fox, another stop motion animated film. That one, based on a classic children's novel by Roald Dahl, features the voice of George Clooney as Mr. Fox, with the voices of Meryl Streep, Bill Murray, Willem Dafoe, and others in supporting roles. It's screening for free Friday night at Central Memorial Park, at 9:40 p.m. Bring popcorn and a blanket.

W&M Dance
Dancer's Studio West are presenting the latest work from the Dance Action Lab, a piece called Musculus Mundi. It opens Thursday night at the DJD Dance Centre. The Dance Action Lab is almost like a summer camp for professional dancers in Calgary, giving them a chance to stretch new creative muscles in terms of choreography — with Musculus Mundi being the culmination of it all. It's also artistic director Davida Monk's final work as artistic director at Dancer's Studio West, which means this may be your last opportunity to see her intriguing choreographic work. http://www.dswlive.ca/
Audio Flashmobs
Eau Claire will be hopping next week with folk fest just over the bridge, but Saturday at 6 p.m., it will be hopping in a completely different way. That's because the Canadian Cultural Mosaic Foundation are presenting YYC Audio Experience, an audio flash mob. You have to download an audio track before 6 p.m. Saturday, on your phone of mp3 player, then meet in the courtyard across from the YMCA. At exactly 6 you press play, listen to the audio and follow directions. We're not quite sure what happens next — and organizers are asking that people don't listen to the directions ahead of the event. They just say it will be fun and amusing, joyful — and goat-free. Actually, they didn't say that last one. Type 'YYC audio experience' into Facebook and find out.

Ice Cube
Ice Cube has lived many different lives, one as one of the founding members of NWA, one of the first superstar rappers. Two as a movie star and producer, involved in films like Boyz in the Hood, Friday, Anaconda, and Barbershop. And more lately, as a basketball impressario, the man behind the new BIG3 basketball league. Ice is taking time out from his basketball duties — it's the off-season — to perform Sunday night at the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino. Showtime is 8 p.m. Sunday.
