Calgary police are warning about an online scam involving high-end vehicles.

Twice in the past month, Calgarians have tried to buy vehicles from what they thought was a legitimate Utah-based company called Maynard Motors.

They were asked to wire half the cost of the vehicle before it was shipped.

A short time later they received a call saying there was a problem at the border and they needed to send the rest of the money before customs would release the vehicle without a lien on it.

Once that happened, the victims never heard from the company again.

Two Calgarians lost more than $130,000 combined.

Calgary detectives are working with U.S. officials to trace the origins of the company.
