An Airdrie man has been charged with seven child pornography offences following an investigation that started in the U.S.

An Airdrie, Alta., man has been charged with seven child pornography offences following an investigation that started in the U.S.   

Police in Alberta received information in June from the FBI that a man had convinced a nine-year-old American girl to make sexually-explicit videos for him using her webcam.       

The investigation led members of the internet child exploitation unit of the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) to a home in Airdrie.       

A 42-year-old man was arrested Tuesday.

Officers seized computers and electronic devices from his home to be analyzed for further evidence.

The man was charged with accessing, possessing and making child pornography, sexual interference, sending sexually explicit material to a person under the age of 16 and two counts of luring.

He was released on bail and will be back on court Aug. 20.
