An early morning fire at a southeast Calgary home has left one person dead and is being called suspicious by police.

First responders were called to a home in the 100 block of Douglas Ridge Green S.E. at around 5 a.m. Friday, police said in an afternoon release.

"After the fire was extinguished, an individual was found deceased inside the home."

Police said the death is being treated as suspicious and are asking anyone with information to contact them at the non-emergency line 403-266-1234 or through Crime Stoppers.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday.
