Truck driver killed in collision between 2 semi-trailers in southern Alberta

One driver was killed Friday when two semi-trailers collided on a Highway near Coalhurst in southern Alberta.

One driver was killed Friday when two semi-trailers collided on a highway near Coalhurst in southern Alberta.

The collision happened at about 9:50 a.m. on eastbound Highway 3 near the Kipp turnoff, RCMP said in a release.

The driver of one of the semi-trailers died at the scene.

One of the vehicles, which was hauling lumber, caught fire, RCMP said.

Traffic on Highway 3 was expected to be diverted for several hours while a traffic reconstructionist investigated the collision.
