Family pleads for witnesses to 2012 killing
Gatleak Thor Metkurjock was injured at a house party and died the next day
The family of a 20-year-old killed in southwest Calgary last year is pleading for witnesses to come forward.
Gatleak Thor Metkurjock, 20, was injured at a house party near 21st Avenue and 16th Street S.W. and died the next day. The cause of death was later found to be blunt force trauma and police say the attack was not random.
"We the family, we are really frustrated for the process," said Daniel Boon Metkurjock, Gatleak's uncle. "Why those who are committed this crime — the criminal, the culprit — why they are not brought to justice?"
Metkurjock said his nephew had escaped the war in Sudan and spent eight years in a refugee camp before coming to Canada.
Gatleak was studying English and Metkurjock said he wanted to become an engineer.
