Enmax plant hydrochloric acid spill sends man to hospital
Spill under investigation
A man in his 40s was sent to hospital Friday with burns following a hydrochloric acid spill at the Enmax plant in northeast Calgary.
Workers were transferring the material around 11 a.m. MT when 500 litres spilled and one of them was sprayed in the face.
The man was taken to an emergency shower and then rushed to hospital. Three others were also taken to hospital as a precaution.
HazMat crews cordoned off the area while they worked to neutralize the acid.
The cause of the spill is still under investigation. Provincial officials were made aware of the incident.
