Elderly pedestrian was in crosswalk when he was hit by commercial truck in Beltline

An 81-year-old man has been taken to hospital in serious condition after he was hit by a large commercial truck in a Beltline crosswalk, and police are seeking witnesses.

An 81-year-old man has been taken to hospital in serious condition after he was hit by a large commercial truck in a Beltline crosswalk, and police are seeking witnesses.

The collision happened at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday at the intersection of 13th Avenue and Fourth Street southwest. The 81-year-old man was crossing Fourth Street westbound on foot at 13th Avenue S.W.

A commercial truck, driven by a 21-year-old man, was travelling eastbound on 13th Avenue. He turned north onto Fourth Street S.W. and struck the man in the crosswalk.

The pedestrian was taken to Foothills hospital in serious condition.

The driver and passenger in the truck were not injured.
