Calgary police responded early Sunday morning to reports of shots fired near 8th Street and 5th Avenue S.W., finding a number of shell casings at the scene.

Det. Shawn Rupchan said shots were reported around 4:30 a.m. outside a donair restaurant.

"But we have no victims coming forward," he said. "Investigators are sifting through what they can find, hopefully find some CCTV or witness videos to try and determine who the suspects might be."

Rupchan said there were no reports of property damage from the rounds fired.

"It doesn't appear it was a random [shooting]," Rupchan said. "If it was, it was between people who tend to know each other who were fighting."

Saturday shooting

Police have made an arrest in a shooting that injured a bystander on Saturday. Rupchan said one vehicle involved in the shooting outside a Mr. Sub restaurant was located during a traffic stop early Sunday morning.

"The occupant was taken into custody and questioned," he said.

The incident left one bystander injured, and police said they had no further updates on his condition.
