A Calgary cyclist who was critically injured when he collided with a C-Train last week has died, police said Friday.

A Calgary cyclist who was critically injured when he collided with a C-Train last week has died, police said Friday.

The accident happened on July 21 just after 4:30 p.m. at a level crossing at the intersection of 14th Street and 14th Avenue N.W.

Police believe the cyclist ignored the lights and bells, dodging around the lowered crossing arm.

He was knocked off his bike and landed 12 meters away, police said. 

The 29-year-old was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officials are still investigating the collision, but no charges are expected.
