CityTV's Breakfast Television suspended in Calgary, 11 employees laid off
Morning show will relaunch with new format, while Breakfast Television in Montreal cancelled altogether

Rogers Media announced layoffs Thursday that will alter the morning-television landscape in Calgary.
Eleven employees with CityTV's Breakfast Television were let go and the show has been put on hiatus.
The regular morning show will be suspended effective Sept. 6 to Sept. 20, according to Rogers Media, and then relaunch with a new format on Monday, Sept. 23.
"We are reimagining morning TV with a refreshed Breakfast Television that remains hyper-local in news, traffic and weather delivered by local hosts, plus entertainment and lifestyle content that has broad appeal," Rogers senior vice-president of television Colette Watson said in an emailed statement.
"We recognize and thank all employees who worked with BT Calgary over the years for their incredible work and commitment and making mornings brighter for our viewers," Watson added.
Rogers also announced Thursday that Breakfast Television in Montreal has been cancelled altogether.
