A construction worker is in hospital after falling at a site in Calgary's southwest Monday morning.

Rescue crews were called shortly after 9 a.m. MT to the 2100 block of 27th Avenue.

The man — who had fallen several metres — landed in a spot that was difficult for paramedics to access.

Jayson Doyscher with the Calgary Fire Department says a high-angle rescue team was called in to bring him down.

"The challenge itself was actually trying to get on to that location," he said. "Because it's a construction site there's no stairs and it was on the second floor."

The man is in stable condition and the accident is now under investigation.
