Calgary man charged after truck slams into courthouse
Man supposed to appear in court next year on drug charges
Charges have been laid against a Calgary man after a pickup truck was driven into a downtown courthouse early Monday morning.
Police say a Ford F-150 was driven along Seventh Avenue, around a concrete barrier and into the south entrance of the Calgary Courts Centre.
A 29-year-old man arrested at the scene has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and causing damage to property.
He was not injured in the crash and will stay in custody until he finds a lawyer.
The man is known to police.
Earlier this month he was charged with assaulting a peace officer and breaching bail.
The man was also supposed to appear in court next year for drug charges stemming from October 2012.
He was charged with trafficking, possession of a substance for production and possession of the proceeds of crime in connection with a meth lab bust in east-central Alberta.
