Calgary's first baby of 2020 was born at 12:20 a.m. on New Year's Day.
Alberta Health Services said proud mom Ania Dolganiuk welcomed a baby girl, Maya, who weighed in at six pounds 10 ounces, and 49 centimetres in length.
Maya took her first breaths at the Peter Lougheed Centre.

Edmonton's first baby of the new year, Madilynn, was born 36 minutes after midnight at Grey Nuns Community Hospital.
According to the province, roughly 55,000 babies are born in Alberta each year.
The first baby born in Calgary last year made her grand entrance one minute into 2019.
